UBBART
Paul Sima Gallery, Liviu Vlad Hall, and UBB Art Hall valorize the artistic segment of BBU heritage through exhibitions, painting workshops, and other similar activities. While Paul Sima Gallery and UBB Art Hall are dedicated par excellence to temporary exhibitions, Liviu Vlad Hall hosts a delightful permanent exhibition of drawings and watercolor paintings. BBU’s collaborations with established and emerging artists provide visitors with a remarkable variety of forms of artistic expression, and our university’s art collections are constantly expanding.
THE BBU ARCHIVE
The evolution of Transylvanian university education justifies the inclusion of Babeș-Bolyai University among the large institutions that create and preserve documents of scientific and practical importance. The specialists at the Historical Archive manage the BBU documentary fonds, which are part of the National Archives Fonds. The digital strategy adopted by BBU is reflected in the Historical Archive by an extensive digitization and database creation project. The members of the Historical Archive valorize our university’s rich documentary material in numerous events and publications with scientific and popularization purposes.
The Academic Cultural Heritage Department (ACHD) is a department of Babeș-Bolyai University, whose main objective is to preserve our university’s museum, archive, and artistic heritage and to promote it to the academic community and the public.
Established in the fall of 2013, the ACHD manages our university’s museums, Historical Archive, and three art galleries. The management, research, and valorization of such a diverse heritage are the result of the work of a creative, dynamic, and professional team. As a promoter of university culture, the ACHD actively collaborates with other institutions to strengthen BBU’s contribution to local and national socio-cultural life.
Building on the tradition and excellence that have turned BBU into one of the most prestigious Central-Eastern European universities, the experience ACHD has accumulated over the decade since its establishment is attested by numerous memorable exhibitions, cultural events, and publications.
